Geographical position of Montenegro is especially favorable for nesting of various types of birds. If one takes into consideration that migration routes of various birds intersect right on the territory of Montenegro, it is clear why it is possible to see here approximately 330 types of birds, out of the total number of 500 that exist in the whole of Europe.
70% of the Montenegrin territory is mountaneous. On the mountain rocks and in the canyons nearby Podgorica (20 km) there are nests of some of the rare and endangered types of birds.
From mid-April until mid-June one can watch in these areas the following bird species: Monticola Solitarius, Monticola Saxatilis, Oenanthe Hispanica, Sita Neumayer and some other types that make their nests in the same habitat.
For bird watchers it is very attractive to watch these rare types of birds that spend almost all their lives in areas that are very difficult to access.
